I tend to stay away from using words like “shook” and “obsessed” when describing products but I can legitimately say that I am obsessed with The Nubian Palette from Juvia’s Place. Juvia’s Place is an indie, cruelty free brand that has gotten a lot of hype across the Youtube/blogging world. Of course, as always, I’m late to the party but I finally decided to try something from them. I’m in love with their whole aesthetic and branding because I’m obsessed with ancient Egypt. For my first palette I decided to try The Nubian, which is the first palette the brand ever released. It is $20.00 and contains twelve shades, eight shimmers and four mattes. This palette contains 18 grams/0.63 ounces of product. In comparison, a Colourpop palette with the same number of shadows only contains 10.2 grams/0.03 ounces of product. As I do with all eyeshadow palette reviews, I’ll give a list of pros and cons and then some looks I created using the palette.

Pros:

• This palette is filled with warm neutrals that are perfect for any setting. I know warm neutrals are kind of losing their popularity but this palette filled a void in my collection.
• These shadows blended easier than any other eyeshadow I own. They were smooth and creamy. This would be perfect for beginners (me).
• No kickup and very little fall out.
• These eyeshadows have a depth and uniqueness to them that isn’t really visible in pictures. For example, the first shade on the end left in the top row is a duochrome. It looks like a beige/nude color but it actually has an intense pink shift. The second shade from the right in the middle row can look red or rose gold depending on the light. Very unique shades to be a neutral palette.
• This is a black owned brand which is great in and of itself BUT this means that they know pigment. These colors are going to show up on EVERY skin tone. No ashy and dull looks here.
• This brand is very affordable. Their prices are in between drugstore and high end with their most expensive palette being $28.00. However, they have sales and free shipping deals often. I actually only paid $16.00 for this palette because of that.
• The shimmers are beautiful on their own just using a brush but can really be amped up using water or setting spray.

Cons:

• The red/gold shade on the end right of the middle row isn’t as smooth as the rest and I did have quite a bit of fall out. The fall out did slightly stain my face so I really recommend tapping off and wetting your brush for this one.

*I put together four looks just using this palette. I am not that great at doing eyeshadow so these aren’t meant to be tutorials. I do this so you can see the shadows actually on my eyes. This palette is the only Juvia’s Place palette to not have names for each shadow so I’ll just describe them to the best of my ability. I loved the way each of these turned out.

This was the first look I made with the palette and the simplest.

1. I used the light brown matte (top row, second from the right) in my crease.
2. I used the gold shimmer (middle row, second from the left) all over the lid.
3. I used the rose gold shimmer (middle row, end left) in my inner corner.
4. I used a little bit of the chocolate brown matte (bottom row, second from the left) on the outer V to deepen the colors.

This look came out much warmer and had more depth than it looks in the picture.

1. I used the orange matte (top row, second from the left) in my crease.
2. I used the light brown matte (top row, second from the right) in my crease as well.
3. I used the champagne shimmer (top row, end right) in my inner corner.
4. I used the gold shimmer (middle row, second from the left) and the red/gold shimmer (middle row, end right) mixed together on my lid.
5. I used the charcoal matte (bottom row, end right) on my lower lash line.

This look was pure rose gold and gorgeous, in my opinion.

1. I used the chocolate brown matte (bottom row, second from the left) in my crease.
2. I used the light brown matte (top row, second from the right) in my crease as well.
3. I used the rose gold shimmer (middle row, end left) all over my lid.
4. I used the charcoal matte (bottom row, end right) on my lower lash line.
5. I used the gold shimmer (middle row, second from the left) as an inner corner highlight.

This is definitely one of my favorites.

1. I used the orange matte (top row, second from the left) in my crease.
2. I used the light brown matte (top row, second from the right) in my crease as well.
3. I used the charcoal/brown matte with micro glitter (bottom row, second from the right) in my outer V.
4. I used the red shimmer (middle row, second from the right) all over my lid.
5. I used the champagne/pink duochrome shimmer (top row, end left) in my inner corner.
6. I used the charcoal matte (bottom row, end right) on my lower lash line.

As you can see, I have really used and loved this palette. Since getting this I haven’t wanted to use any of my other ones. This formula puts Colourpop and every other I’ve tried to SHAME.
