Come Sip Some Tea with Me- The Beauty Brands I Don’t Support

thumbnail (85)

For today’s post we’re going to do something a little different. I am VERY choosy about what brands I give my money to. If they’re not cruelty free, they’re automatically on the do not buy list. However, there are some brands that are cruelty free that I still refuse to buy from. I thought it might be helpful if I created a comprehensive list of the brands I refuse to support, at least for the foreseeable future.

Here’s a disclaimer: I do not care what you buy because I don’t pay your bills. If any of these brands are your ride or die, that’s fine. Keep in mind, brands don’t have feelings and we’re all allowed to choose who we support. I know people get very sensitive about this topic but I am not criticizing you or your choices. This is about me and me alone. Now, let’s get into it!

physiciansformula.com-logo Physicians Formula is the newest addition to my crap list. They recently decided to do what Wet n Wild did last year and start selling in China. They still claim to be cruelty free but since they are selling in China, they can be subject to post market testing. If you’d like to learn more about this, check out Cruelty Free Kitty’s post.

I don’t support Wet n Wild for the same reason that I don’t support Physicians Formula. I wrote an entire post about what they did and you can read it here.

Morphe is another new addition to my do not buy list. I’m just so over everything about them. I’m sick of the people they collab with. I’m sick of them lying about stupid things. I’m just sick of them. If you’re unaware of their many controversies, a quick YouTube search will give you a plethora of information about their shady business practices.

I don’t think there’s a more polarizing person in the beauty community than Jeffree Star. You either love him or… you don’t. I do not. I personally think he’s rude, tacky and an all around negative person. Since he is the face of his brand and I would never support him, I can’t support Jeffree Star Cosmetics either.

Jaclyn-Cosmetics-Logo

Just like with Jeffree Star Cosmetics, I’ll never support Jaclyn Cosmetics. Jaclyn Hill has been proven time and time again to be a liar and untrustworthy. There are too many indie and mainstream brands out there that deserve my money WAY more than this dumpster fire of a brand.

Juvia’s Place is the only brand on this list that truly hurts me not to support. I love their products and they are cruelty free. However, the owner is a vile person. I gave this brand multiple chances but the owner could not manage to stop being rude and hateful on social media. She showed an extreme lack of respect for not only the people that dislike her but for the supporters of her own brand. There’s “receipts” on YouTube for all the drama but I don’t care to get into all of that. I hope that one day there is true change so I can support a brand I love once again.

Final Thoughts:

I prefer to talk about the brands I love more than the ones I don’t but I do think it’s important to explain why I’m opposed to reviewing certain products. I choose to vote with my dollar and while these brands will never miss my money, it makes me sleep better at night knowing they don’t have it. I would love to hear your thoughts on this but please keep it civil. Thank you for reading and have a great day!

  1. I didn’t know that about Juvia’s Place! I have such a love/hate relationship with JSC too – I’m not too fond of him and am always a bit reluctant to support, but I love some of the shades he’s made and can’t resist sometimes… It’s a tricky one, but I am starting to make an effort to cut the drama out of my makeup collection!

    1. The Juvias Place drama hurt my soul lol. The owner, to paraphrase, said “fu** Juvias Place” when people told her that she was ruining her own brand with how she was acting. If she doesn’t care about her own brand, she doesn’t need my money. There’s a lot I’d love to try from JSC but I just can’t until I see true change from him.

  2. All I can say is ‘whoa!’ about Juvia’s Place! Good thing I never purchased anything from them. I’ve never purchased from Jeffree and Jaclyn either – they both strike me as disingenuous and fake, thinking too much of themselves. Hmm, I actually never bought anything from any YouTuber – neither their own brands not their collabs. I also never buy from Morphe because of their shady business practices.

    1. Juvia’s Place truly upsets me because I love their eyeshadow so much😞 I’ve had quite a few people tell me they had no idea about all that so I may do a bonus post or something going more in depth about what happened. I just assumed everybody knew.

      1. That’s a good idea – I haven’t heard about this at all before reading your post. One would think that brand owners would want to at least fake a nice image, right? It’s unbeliavable. I get that many brands want a piece of that huge Chinese market – that’s a business decision and they know the risks, but such fowl business practices completely destroy the brand for me immediately. I don’t opt for 100% cruelty-free makeup collection, but knowing that a brand makes ethical decisions is always good.

  3. It’s such a shame that Morphe has such a lack of transparency with their customers! I have tried a variety of their products due to reviews and affordability and I’ve liked everything I’ve tried. With that being said I doubt I will be purchasing anything else which is just too bad!

  4. I don’t support any of these companies either-although a few are simply because I don’t know much about them (like Morphe). I also don’t follow many famous YouTubers (I prefer watching smaller ones for the most part), so Jeffrey and Jaclyn never appealed to me. I never purchased anything from Juvia’s Place either, but they had a few products I was interested in-it’s disappointing to hear that their owner is questionable!
