I’ve accumulated a few random beauty things over the past few months. I simply didn’t have enough to say about them to warrant separate reviews so I decided to combine them. My thoughts on these four products range from meh to holy grail so let’s get into it!
The aptly named “The Blush” from essence is their newest blush formula. It’s $3.00 for 0.17 ounces and I have the shade Blooming. I’m assuming this is the same great blush formula that essence always has. I love their Satin Touch Blushes and this one is similar but definitely more matte. I have to say I assume this is a great blush formula because I really don’t know. This shade doesn’t show up on my skin… at all. I have a pretty fair skin tone with warm undertones but this blush doesn’t even have a brightening affect on me. I tried it under my eyes and as a matte highlight but it was invisible. The only possible use for it I can think of is to set my eyeshadow primer. I definitely don’t recommend this shade unless you’re the fairest of the fair but the deeper shades would probably be worth trying.
SheaMoisture Papaya & Vitamin C Lip Balm
SheaMoisture products are always hit or miss for me. One of my main issues with them is the lack of consistency. So many times I have loved a product from them enough to rebuy it but then the formula will suddenly be sub par. That’s what happened with the Papaya & Vitamin C Brighter Days Ahead Lip Balm. This lip balm is $4.00 for half an ounce, a pretty good deal. I absolutely loved the first tube I had. It smelled like a creamsicle, was deeply moisturizing and the perfect balance between thick and not too thick. Once I finished that tube, I bought another. The second tube still had the great scent and consistency but it was gritty and nowhere near as moisturizing. Depending on the batch, this lip balm could be great but I’m not chancing it again. I recommend the Tree Hut Sugarlips Lip Butter over this one.
I have yet to try a serum that really amazes me. My newest one is the Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum. It’s $20.00 for 2 fluid ounces. It comes in a plastic bottle with a pump, my preferred serum packaging. It claims to help support collagen health, minimize fine lines and improve uneven skin tone. It also claims to use a stabilized form of vitamin C that is less likely to degrade than unstabilized vitamin C.
This is a good serum, I’d even say it’s really good BUT did it do anything miraculous over the three months I used it for? No. Skincare is hard for me to review because I use multiple products every morning and every night. My skin has greatly improved over time but I couldn’t tell you which specific product created the results. More than likely, it’s all of the products working together. I can tell you that this serum made my skin feel healthy and very hydrated. Along with vitamin C, it contains hyaluronic acid which is great for skin moisturization. This and the Cerave Resurfacing Retinol Serum are the two best serums I’ve tried so far. I plan to alternate them in the future because I do love both. This is a good product and worth trying but just keep in mind that it probably won’t make your discoloration disappear.
Tree Hut Post Shave Soothing Mist
I bought the Tree Hut Moroccan Rose Post Shave Soothing Mist on a whim anddd I’ve already went through three bottles. It’s $10.00 for 4.8 fluid ounces and meant to be used after shaving or waxing to soothe the skin. It contains vitamin B5, aloe and oat. It comes in a plastic spray bottle that does a great job of dispersing the product in an even, fine mist.
I love everything about this mist except how much product you get in the bottle. I use it every night when I get out of the shower so I go through this small bottle QUICKLY. It cools the skin and even makes it feel more hydrated. I’ve been using this to get out of putting lotion on my whole body and while it’s not as moisturizing as lotion, it still does the job. The scent is incredible but Tree Hut’s Moroccan Rose scent is one of my favorites. The best way I can describe it is a sugary rose type smell. I would love for them to release a 12 or 16 ounce bottle but I recommend this mist regardless.
Final Thoughts:
That’s all of the random products I currently have! I would love to know if you’ve tried any of these or if you want to. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
