Stila is not a brand I buy from often. They tend to bore me and are supremely over priced. However, I am a sucker for a good deal so when I saw a gift set from them on sale during the 2020 holiday season, I grabbed it. It was discounted and I had a coupon so overall I paid maybe $16.00 for all three of these products; they retail for MUCH more. Even though I didn’t pay much for this set, I still regret it. Let’s discuss why that is!
The three products included in the set were the Eyeshadow Compact in Kitten, Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma and the Beauty Boss Lip Gloss in Kitten. I have reviewed the Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows before (here) but that was a very long time ago so I wanted to try the formula again.
The Eyeshadow Compact in Kitten regularly retails for $18.00. It’s a champagne shade with an almost wet texture. It’s not quite like a Super Shock Shadow from Colourpop but it doesn’t feel like a regular powder eyeshadow either. It is VERY delicate and mine shattered after being dropped one time; I was able to repress it. The fact that they charge $18.00 for this is laughable. It is so basic. Along with using it as an eyeshadow, I thought I might could use it as a highlighter. However, despite its creamy texture, it did not look great on the skin. To be fair, it’s not marketed as a highlighter but most eyeshadows can be used that way. This one just made my skin look very textured. I also wasn’t crazy about it on my eyes. There was literally nothing special about it. There are so many fantastic champagne eyeshadows and highlighters out there that can be used on the face and eyes. Please do not waste your money on this overpriced single shadow.
The Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma regularly retails for $24.00 but I have a mini size that isn’t sold on its own. Honestly, I recommend trying to get a mini over the full size because they dry out SO fast. I feel the same way about this liquid shadow that I did three years ago, it’s fine. It’s a peachy champagne shade packed full of silver glitter. If used on my lids, it does slightly sting so I prefer to just use it in my inner corners. It dries down very fast so you need to work quickly but once it dries, it’s basically budge proof. This formula just doesn’t wow me and I can definitely live without it. I’m going to try to use it up before it dries out but I won’t be repurchasing another.
The Beauty Boss Lip Gloss in Kitten regularly retails for $15.00. It’s a peachy shade with silver glitter. It is sweetly scented and flavored. Like with the Glitter & Glow Eyeshadow, this lip gloss is just fine. It has a gritty texture that I’m not crazy about and I think you can find much better glosses from e.l.f., Milani, etc. I definitely don’t recommend this at full price.
In these pictures, I’m wearing the Eyeshadow Compact in Kitten on my face as a highlighter and on my eyelids. I have the Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma in my inner corners and the Beauty Boss Lip Gloss in Kitten on my lips.
Final Thoughts:
These products are so basic and so over priced. Trying them out made me realize why I’m literally never interested in what Stila releases but who knows? I might be in the minority so if you feel differently, let me know! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
