Kylie Cosmetics is not a brand that I’ve been even remotely interested in but I received their Velvet Lip Kit in Bare for free with an Ulta order. These lip kits are usually $27.00. They contain one liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner. The packaging is very standard for both products; a doe foot applicator for the lipstick and regular pencil liner. The shade in this kit, Bare, is described as being a nude pinky beige and I agree with that description.
I really love this shade and I think it’s a good nude for my skin tone. Both the lipstick and liner applied smoothly but the lipstick was slightly patchy. I think this has less do to with the formula and more to do with the shade because I’ve had other nudes do the same thing on my lips. Since this is a velvet matte formula, it’s quite comfortable. However, you pay for that comfort with staying power. This is not a transfer proof formula but it did last on my lips for a decent amount of time. I also had no issues reapplying BUT I think it’s best to apply in thin layers to avoid clumping. The formula is really similar to the Dose of Colors Liquid Lipsticks so if you’ve tried them, you’ll know what this formula feels like and how it wears.
Overall, I like this lip kit but I would never spend $27.00 on it. There are drugstore priced lippies that I enjoy more, like the NYX Lip Lingerie Lipsticks. If you’ve tried anything from Kylie Cosmetics, let me know what you think. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
