Finally Trying Give Me Glow Cosmetics! Haunted Pumpkin Palette & Matte Lipstick Reviews

38

Give Me Glow Cosmetics has been on my list of indie brands to try for a very long time. I finally decided to do it because their Haunted Pumpkin Eyeshadow Palette just couldn’t be more perfect for this time of year. I also wanted to try a couple of their Matte Lipsticks so I threw those into the order. Let’s talk about the palette first!

The Haunted Pumpkin Eyeshadow Palette is typically $45.00 but you can almost always find a 20% off code. This palette is very large and sturdy. It has cardboard packaging with a mirror and a firm magnetic closure. It contains ten shades, three metallics and seven mattes. With the basic info out of the way, let’s talk pros and cons.

😄Pros:

  • I’m so in love with the theme and packaging! Those aspects don’t really matter but I’ve learned that I get more joy out of using my makeup if it has a special theme or packaging.
  • The metallics in this palette are just incredible. I had a couple of issues with one, I’ll discuss it below, but even with those issues, this formula is one of the best I’ve tried. They’re smooth, rich, create almost no fallout and look beautiful.
  • The mattes are perfect. They created no fallout and were so easy to blend. Like with the shimmers, these mattes are some of the best I’ve ever used.

😣Cons:

  • The shade Starless & Somber is great but unnecessary for me, personally. I would have preferred for that shade to be a light shimmer that I could use in the inner corner.
  • The shade Pumpkin Possession was slightly less sparkly than the other metallics. It also didn’t apply as well and it created some fallout. However, even with those issues, it’s still a good shade.

Swatches & Shade Descriptions:

These eyeshadows do have names but no shade descriptions so I will describe them to the best of my ability. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

  • Starless & Somber– matte tan
  • Do Not Carve– matte espresso brown
  • Pumpkin Possession– metallic orange toned red
  • Rotten– matte teal
  • Hail to the Pumpkin King– matte red toned brown
  • Did You Hear That?– metallic teal
  • Midnight Mist– matte aqua green
  • Follow My Shadow– matte orange
  • Moon Magic– matte taupe
  • Urban Legend– metallic taupe with silver shimmer

Eyeshadow Looks:

I created three looks using this palette but I did have to pull in other shadows to use in my inner corner. I don’t always wear an eye primer but I do set my base with a cream colored shadow. I really love all three of these looks.

  1. I blended Rotten into and above my crease. I also smudged it on my lower lash line.
  2. I blended Midnight Mist into Rotten in the outer half of my crease. I also smudged it on my lower lash line.
  3. I deepened my crease with Moon Magic and blended it into the previous two shades on my lower lash line.
  4. I applied Did You Hear That? on the inner half of my lid and applied it on my water line.
  5. I applied Urban Legend on the outer half of my lid.

*I used Looxi Beauty Snow Cone in my inner corner.

  1. I blended Moon Magic into my inner crease.
  2. I deepened my crease with Do Not Carve. I also applied it on the outer part of my lid and on my water line.
  3. I applied Urban Legend on my lid.
  4. I smudged Pumpkin Possession on my lower lash line.

*I used Looxi Beauty Howl at the Moon in my inner corner.

  1. I blended Follow My Shadow into the inner part of my crease.
  2. I blended Starless & Somber into the middle of my crease.
  3. I deepened my crease with Hail to the Pumpkin King.
  4. I applied Pumpkin Possession on my lid.
  5. I applied Do Not Carve on my water line.
  6. I smudged Midnight Mist on my lower lash line.

*I mixed my highlighter with Looxi Beauty Catty-Pillar in my inner corner.

Brushes Used:

If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.

I bought two Matte Liquid Lipsticks, Whiskey & Honey and Sweater Weather. They’re usually $10.00 but I believe they’re being discontinued and are currently $6.40. Whiskey & Honey is a yellow toned brown and Sweater Weather is a deep red.

These shades are just absolutely gorgeous! Whiskey & Honey is an especially unique color. However, the formula isn’t the best. These lipsticks are MATTE. They’re very similar to the old school matte lipsticks that sucked all the moisture from your lips. They are quite long lasting and transfer proof but they will flake off in uneven patches.

I so wish that they had a formula more like the Dose of Colors Liquid Lipsticks because those lipsticks are comfortable and long lasting. Give Me Glow offers many unique shades and the $10.00 price tag is great but the formula is so uncomfortable that it makes me not want to wear them. Without a reformulation, I don’t see myself buying more.

Final Thoughts:

I am very happy with my first experience with this brand. The palette is stellar and I will definitely be checking them out on Black Friday. I have my eye on the Vintage Rose and Christmas Morning palettes. Also, if you’re wanting a more affordable spooky season palette, check back next week for my review of the Makeup Revolution Twisted Fantasy Eyeshadow Palette. I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from Give Me Glow or if you’d like to! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
