The Tarte Maneater Passion Eye & Cheek Palette is one I bought on a whim when it was on sale. I absolutely love travel friendly palettes like this and use them all the time when I’m busy or just not feeling creative. This may have been a random purchase but it’s one I’m glad I made.

The Maneater Eye & Cheek Palette is usually $35.00 but has been on sale for $30.00 (sometimes even less) for months. It contains six eyeshadows, one highlighter and one blush. There are four matte and two metallic eyeshadows. The highlighter feels smooth but does have noticeable glitter within it and the blush has a satin finish with a slight amount of shimmer.
The packaging is the typical Tarte style; weighted plastic with a clasp closure and a mirror. This palette also has the classic vanilla scent that Tarte uses, which I love. Let’s now talk pros and cons!
Pros:
- I love the Tarte eyeshadow formula. It’s not revolutionary but it’s so easy to use. The mattes blend and build up easily, while the metallics look smooth on the eyes. None of the shadows created any fallout.
- This is an ideal travel palette for me. I love the tones of the eyeshadows, the blush and the highlighter. I also like that you can create a cooler or warmer look with this one, compact palette.
- Both the highlighter and blush create a gorgeous glow on the skin.
Cons:
- I would have preferred for the highlighter to be less glittery and more smooth. It is very pretty and it’s definitely noticeable but the amount of shimmer within it does draw attention to skin texture.
- The blush isn’t as shimmer heavy as the highlighter but I would have preferred for it to be matte. Again, any kind of glow on the cheek draws attention to texture and pores. My goal is always to conceal mine.
Swatches & Shade Descriptions:
These eyeshadows do have names and shade descriptions on the website so I will copy them here. I’ll be going from left to right, top to bottom. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

- Charm– matte vanilla
- Purrfect– matte tan
- Passion– metallic golden taupe
- Hypnotic– metallic golden amber
- Unleashed– matte reddish brown
- Moody– matte dark brown
- Spontaneous– golden champagne highlighter
- Affection– warm pink glowy blush
Eyeshadow Looks:
I created two looks using this palette and I really liked them both. I don’t always wear an eye primer but I do set my base with a cream colored shadow, which this palette has.

- I set my base with Charm.
- I blended Purrfect into my crease.
- I applied Passion on my lid.
- I smudged Moody on my lower lash line.
- I applied Spontaneous in my inner corner.
I am wearing Affection and Spontaneous on my cheeks.

Final Thoughts:
This isn’t the most exciting palette in the world but if you’re looking for an excellent travel friendly, work appropriate or busy mom palette, this is a great option. I’d love to know what you think about it! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
