The Carnevil Eyeshadow Palette was Jolie Beauty’s Halloween release for 2023 and the second palette I’ve purchased from the brand. The first was the Til Death Eyeshadow Palette (review here) and it’s arguably my favorite palette that I own right now. Since I love it so much, I went into this one with very high expectations. In most ways, it met those expectations but it did fall slightly short.

The Carnevil Palette is $47.00 but has been on sale for quite awhile. I wouldn’t be surprised if they plan to discontinue it when they release the 2024 Halloween collection. Shipping for me from the UK was $13.00. I made my purchase during a sale and also used a discount code so I was able to totally offset the shipping price. The shipping time was EXTREMELY fast; I got my order within five days. My order was also packaged well.

This palette contains twenty eighty shades and there are a variety of formulas within it. There are: twenty mattes, two metallics, one matte with glitter, two multichromes and three pressed glitters. It has cardboard packaging with a large mirror and a magnetic closure. Let’s get into the pros and cons!
Pros:
- This brand just absolutely kills their theming and packaging! I love the creepy carnival vibes🎪🤡
- This color story is so FUN! It has been a very long time since I dove into a fully colorful palette and this one allowed me to be creative. It’s truly has all the bright colors of the spooky season in one place.
- The mattes were so easy to work with. Like the Til Death Palette, they were less pigmented than I expected but not in a bad way. I was able to easily build them up and blend them out.
- The multichromes were simply gorgeous. Strange has a red orange to deep green flip with gold shimmer throughout that I just couldn’t capture in the pictures of my look below, but it’s autumn in an eyeshadow. Unusual has an amazing purple to green flip with a blackened base and gold shimmer throughout. These eyeshadows are truly special.
- Both of the metallics, Pandemonium and Rotten Candy, were beautiful and I wish this palette had more of this formula.
Cons:
- Masquerade and Magician, two of the matte purples, look identical on the eyes.
- For my personal taste, this palette has too many mattes. I would have much preferred more metallics or another multichrome.
- As far as pressed glitters go, these are not bad. I didn’t have to use any kind of glitter glue and they stayed where I put them but they’re messy, difficult to make look even and potentially dangerous to the eyes. I would have preferred any other type of shadow over these.
- I think this palette could have benefitted from a deep matte brown and some light inner corner shades.

Final Thoughts:
This was such a fun palette and it’s absolutely perfect for spooky season! I still prefer the Til Death simply because that color story is more my style and that palette doesn’t contain pressed glitters but if you’re wanting a colorful palette, this one is great. I already have another Jolie Beauty palette on the way to me, the Sirens Eyeshadow Palette, so keep an eye out for that review! Let me know what you think about this palette and the looks I created.
