Klarity Kosmetics is an indie brand that’s been on my radar for quite awhile. I actually bought a couple of their palettes awhile back when they were deeply discounted but the brand ended up discontinuing them soon after so I didn’t review them. I also didn’t use them because I ended up testing out other things so until this purchase, I still hadn’t tried Klarity’s formula. I had heard mixed reviews but during a recent sale, I decided to grab their Deadly Rose Eyeshadow Palette and Matte Liquid Lipstick in Vampire Blood. I overall enjoyed both products but I did have some issues.
The Deadly Rose Eyeshadow Palette is $30.00 and contains nine shades: four mattes, three metallics and two shimmers. The brand describes all of the shades, other than the mattes, as shimmers but Head Over Heels, He Loves Me Not and Wilted Rose have more of a smooth metallic formula. This palette has cardboard packaging with a mirror and a magnetic closure. Let’s now get into the pros and cons!
Pros:
- I love the color story and theme for this palette. That obviously doesn’t affect the quality but it does affect my enjoyment. I think this is a gorgeous color story for fall and for the holiday season.
- The mattes were all very smooth and easy to work with. I had no issues with blending and found them to have the perfect amount of pigment.
- The shimmer shades, Poisonous Kiss and Once & For All, are SO sparkly and pretty.
- The metallic shades were all smooth and very easy to just swipe onto the lids with a finger. I especially loved Head Over Heels and He Loves Me Not.
Cons:
- The shimmer shade Poisonous Kiss is VERY delicate. It completely crumbled when I barely touched it to swatch it. I was able to repress it but it doesn’t have enough binder in the formula and is almost loose in the pan.
- Poisonous Kiss, Wilted Rose and Once & For All created quite a bit of fallout. That fallout also wanted to stick anywhere it landed and for a deep shade like Wilted Rose, that meant staining on the face.
- I would have liked for Wilted Rose, the metallic deep green, to have more shine. On the lids, it looks more like a satin than a metallic or shimmer.
Swatches & Shade Descriptions:
These eyeshadows do have names and shade descriptions on the website so I will copy them from there. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

Eyeshadow Looks:
I created two looks using this palette and I really like both looks but I especially love the first one! I don’t typically wear an eye primer but I do set my base.
- I blended Lonely Petal into my crease.
- I deepened my crease with Love Trap.
- I applied Head Over Heels over the majority of my lid.
- I applied Poisonous Kiss on my inner lid.
- I applied Once & For All on my inner corner.
- I applied Dead Ringer on my water line.
- I smudged He Loves Me Not on my lower lash line.
- I blended Lonely Petal into my inner crease.
- I blended My Love Stems Deep throughout the rest of my crease.
- I applied Wilted Rose all over my lid and smudged it on my lower lash line.
- I applied Once & For All on the inner part of my lid, in my inner corner and smudged below Wilted Rose on my lower lash line.
If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.
The Matte Liquid Lipstick is $15.00 and I bought the shade Vampire Blood, a deep red. It has a doe foot applicator and a sweet, pleasant scent. I absolutely love the color of this lipstick. It really is a true vampy red. I also enjoy the formula, for the most part. It is a matte lipstick and it does feel dry on the lips but it’s not uncomfortable or overly drying. It’s also kiss proof and generally long wearing.
However, it does not hold up to eating or drinking at all and it doesn’t fade away gracefully. It does that very stereotypical matte lipstick thing where it crumbles off the lips in patches and looks (and feels) disgusting. The way it crumbles off also makes a smooth reapplication almost impossible unless you fully remove the original layer. This is not a formula that I would feel comfortable wearing out and so I don’t see myself buying more of them. It really is disappointing because I like the feel and wear of this lipstick… as long as I don’t eat or drink.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, my first experience with Klarity Kosmetics was a good one. I don’t see myself paying full price for their eyeshadow palettes because in my opinion, the formula wasn’t any more special than other more affordable brands but I would buy them on sale. I wouldn’t buy another liquid lipstick because $15.00 isn’t cheap and for that price, I expect it to be perfect. I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from the brand and what you think, though.
