This Palette is Stunning! MBA Cosmetics Cursed Moon Eyeshadow Palette Review🌚

MBA Cosmetics is an indie brand that I’ve wanted to try for a very long time. During one of their sales, I picked up the Cursed Moon Eyeshadow Palette and the Color Rich Lipstick in Spiced Pumpkin. I am very happy with both of these products, but I don’t think they’d be best for everyone. Let’s talk about the lipstick first!

The Color Rich Lipsticks are $8.00 and I bought the shade Spiced Pumpkin, an orange with gold shimmer. This lipstick looks slightly metallic on the lips and has a matte finish. It has a drier formula with a waxier texture. I find that lipsticks with this type of formula last longer on the lips but they can be drying. This lipstick isn’t transfer proof but it wears off the lips evenly and it does last a long time. It’s not my all time favorite formula but I do like it and I love the color. The packaging is very cheap, though, and for that alone, I say wait for a sale. This brand has sales frequently so it’s not hard to catch it for $6.00 or less.

The Cursed Moon Eyeshadow Palette is $44.00 if you buy the single shadows alone and it’s $48.00 if you buy the palette as a whole. I love the packaging so I chose to buy the whole palette. I do appreciate that MBA Cosmetics gives the option to just buy the single eyeshadows, though. The packaging is sturdy cardboard with a mirror and magnetic closure. This palette contains nine shades: four mattes, three metallics, one duochrome and one multichrome. Let’s talk pros and cons!

❤Pros:

  • I wouldn’t say that blue eyeshadow is my favorite but if I’m going to use it, I want cool toned blues and that’s what you get in this palette.
  • The mattes shades were so easy to work with, even the black. I experienced almost no fallout, they were easy to blend and could be built up.
  • The metallics and duochromes in this palette are truly special. They were easy to work with and had very little fallout. Eerie is one of the most unique eyeshadows that I own.

💔Cons:

  • Since this is a more monochrome palette, you’re not going to be able to get a ton of different looks from it. This doesn’t personally bother me but it may be worth considering if you’d rather splurge on something with more versatility.
  • Eerie, Beshrewed and Afflicted have a chunkier texture that while beautiful and sparkly, can look very heavy or textured on the eyelids.

Swatches & Shade Descriptions:

These eyeshadows do have names but no shade descriptions on the website so I will describe them to the best of my ability. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

  • Eerie– multichrome teal, gold and red
  • Jinxed– matte white based teal
  • Beshrewed– metallic bronze with silver shimmer
  • Ill Fated– matte black
  • Infernal– metallic icy teal with a dark base
  • Tortured– matte deep teal blue
  • Afflicted– metallic blue with icy blue and silver shimmer
  • Ritual– matte navy
  • Harrowing– duochrome blue to purple

Eyeshadow Looks:

I created three looks using this palette and I really love how they turned out! I feel that each one was distinct despite this being a smaller, monochrome palette. I don’t typically wear an eye primer but I do set my base with a skin tone colored eyeshadow.

  1. I blended Jinxed into my crease.
  2. I deepened my crease with Tortured.
  3. I lightly deepened my crease more with Ill Fated. I also applied it on my water line.
  4. I applied Infernal on my lid.
  5. I applied Eerie in my inner corner.
  6. I smudged Beshrewed on my lower lash line.
  1. I blended Jinxed into my crease.
  2. I blended Ill Fated into my crease, applied it on my lid and smudged it on my lower lash line.
  3. I applied Eerie on my lid and in my inner corner.
  1. I blended Jinxed into my crease.
  2. I blended Ritual into the inner part of my crease and in my inner corner. I also smudged it on my lower lash line.
  3. I applied Harrowing over the majority of my lid.
  4. I tapped Afflicted on top of Harrowing and applied it in my inner corner.

✨If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.

Final Thoughts:

One thing I don’t love about MBA Cosmetics is how fast they discontinue products. Some things may be around for years while others are gone in a few months. According to the website, the Cursed Moon Eyeshadow Palette is on its final restock so if this is a color story you have to have, I would purchase it soon. However, I personally wouldn’t pay the full price for this palette. I think I got it on sale for around $35.00 and in my opinion, it’s well worth that but not more than that… and this is why I’ll never be on PR lists, friends😂 If you’ve tried the brand, let me know what I need to try next! Thanks for reading🖤
