I debated on getting the Colourpop The Child Eyeshadow Palette for months because I’m trying to be selective about the palettes I bring into my collection. I LOVE anything to do with Star Wars and I loved the color story, though, so I decided to go for it. Surprisingly, I don’t love this palette as much as I thought I would.
The Child Eyeshadow Palette is $16.00. It contains nine shades: one super shock, four mattes, one matte with glitter, two metallics and one ultra metallic. It has cardboard packaging with a mirror and metallic closure. Let’s talk pros and cons!
Pros:
- I really love this color story. It has the perfect amount of depth and is very unique. I also like that it’s more cool toned.
- The green metallic, Sipping Soup, and the icy silver, Right Hand Mando, are absolutely gorgeous.
- Most of the mattes blend easily and are excellent quality.
- Though this doesn’t matter as far as quality, I love the theme of this palette.
Cons:
- The super shock, Precious Cargo, is simply not good. It’s chunky and it feels more like a basic shimmer than a super shock.
- The ultra metallic, The Force, is pretty but WAY too chunky. It creates a ton of fallout and can look textured on the lids. It made me think of some of the shades in my Nabla Dreamy 2 Palette… and that’s not a compliment.
- The deepest matte shade, Droid Protocol, is not the easiest to blend.
Swatches & Shade Descriptions:
These eyeshadows do have names and shade descriptions on the website so I will copy them here. I don’t agree with some of the descriptions, however, so I will add what I think beside them. I’ll be going from left to right. This photo was taken with flash to show off the sparkle.
- Precious Cargo– super shock opal gold with pinpoints of silver glitter *More of a chunky shimmer than a super shock.
- Right Hand Mando– metallic icy moss with pinpoints of silver glitter *I don’t really see any “moss” in this shade. It just looks silver.
- Just Like A Tatooine– matte soft saddle brown
- Sipping Soup– metallic true moss green
- Baby Face– matte dusty mint
- The Force– ultra metallic vibrant antique gold with pinpoints of gold glitter
- Little Frog– matte olive with flecks of silver glitter
- Float Your Crib– matte blackened olive
- Droid Protocol– matte warm deep brown
Eyeshadow Looks:
I created three looks using this palette. I almost always use an eyeshadow primer and set my primer with a cream or white colored shade, which this palette does not contain.
The green shades in this palette were the main reason I wanted it. This look is my favorite of the three I created.
- I blended Little Frog into my crease.
- I deepened the crease with Float Your Crib and I also smudged this shade on my lower lash line.
- I applied Sipping Soup on my lid and in my water line.
- I applied Right Hand Mando in the inner corner.
- I applied Precious Cargo on my brow bone.
This look was just… okay. I wish it would have blended better but it’s not the worst. I used the L.A. Girl Shockwave Metallic Liner in Gold Medal on my water line.
- I blended Just Like a Tatooine above and into my crease.
- I deepened my crease with Droid Protocol and applied it over the majority of my lid. I also smudged it on my lower lash line.
- I applied The Force on my lid.
- I applied Precious Cargo in my inner corner and on my brow bone.
This is the last look I created and I like it. I wouldn’t say it’s a favorite but I was happy with it. I used the L.A. Girl Pastel Dream Liner in Baby Pink on my water line and smudged on my lower lash line.
- I applied Baby Face in my crease and all over my lid.
- I applied Right Hand Mando in the inner corner and on my brow bone.
Brushes Used:
- Crease Brush

- Small Angled Brush
- Smudge Brush

- Blending Brush, I used this brush to blend out the edges and set my primer.
If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, this is a good but not great palette. If you love the theme and the color story, I say get it but maybe wait until it’s on sale. This palette has been out for quite awhile, however, so if you’ve tried it, let me know what you thought about it. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
i’ve been bouncing back and forth on getting this palette too. these colors bring out your eyes beautifully though!
