A Beautiful Palette for Fall That NOBODY is Talking About- Tarte Sweet Tarte Cravings Review

38

The Tarte Sweet Tarte Cravings Eyeshadow Palette was not on my radar at all. Nobody that I follow had mentioned or reviewed this palette so I didn’t know it existed until I came across it on Ulta’s website. It’s $32.00 but I bought it for less than $20.00 on sale.

This palette is a part of Tarte’s slightly more affordable Sugar Rush line. The packaging looks like all the other Tarte palettes but it does feel cheaper. It’s a lightweight plastic but it does have a firm clasp closure and a mirror. You get nine shades, four mattes and five metallics. With the basic info out of the way, let’s talk pros and cons!

😄Pros:

  • I absolutely love how this palette looks like a box of chocolates and it is chocolate scented.
  • The color story is great for year round use but it screams fall. The browns, golds and berries are just perfection.
  • The metallics are METALLIC. They are rich, buttery and pigmented. I found them to be much more impactful than Tarte’s metallics typically are.

😣Cons:

  • The mattes are fine but I don’t care for them. Unlike the metallics, they’re not creamy or very pigmented. They go on lightly and don’t build up easily. They also don’t blend the best. I feel like they look strange with the metallics because they’re so muted while the metallics are so vibrant.
  • While I did love how the metallics looked, the fallout was a major nuisance. These shadows are so creamy that a brush wouldn’t work well with them so I had to use my finger. However, even with a finger, the fallout was just insane. The fallout from the copper and plum shades, Rich and Raspberry Swirl, stained my face. I definitely wouldn’t reach for these shadows if I was in a hurry.

Swatches & Shade Descriptions:

These eyeshadows do have names but no shade descriptions so I will describe them to the best of my ability. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

Eyeshadow Looks:

I created two looks using this palette. Even though the metallics were messy and the mattes difficult to work with, I absolutely love the looks I made.

  1. I set my base with Truffle.
  2. I blended Semi Sweet into my inner crease and smudged it on my lower lash line.
  3. I deepened my crease with Ganache and also smudged it on my lower lash line.
  4. I applied Dipped on the outer part of my lid.
  5. I applied Raspberry Swirl on the inner part of my lid.
  6. I applied Champagne in my inner corner.

*I used the L.A. Girl Neon Liner in Blackout on my water line.

  3. I deepened my crease with Ganache and smudged it on my lower lash line.

If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.

Final Thoughts:

As usual, I don’t think this palette is worth the full price. I’m glad that I own it and I love the looks I made with it but wait for a half off sale to grab it. Let me know what you think about this palette and the looks I made! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
