A while back Tarte had their Maracuja Lip Cremes half off so I decided to pick two of them up, Mulberry and Honeysuckle. They’re usually $26.00 but I got them for $13.00 each. Mulberry is described as a mulberry shade but it’s a pink toned brown and Honeysuckle is described as a black cherry shade but it’s a red toned brown.
Of the two, Mulberry (pictured on the right) is my favorite. I think the color suits me better but if I had it to do over, I wouldn’t buy either. Tarte claims that this formula is hydrating, lightweight and transfer proof. I disagree with all of that. I found them to have a satin, slightly drying finish and they feel like a typical, thicker cream lipstick, so not lightweight. They’re also not transfer proof at all. However, once the top layer transfers off, they do leave behind a pretty stain. I also really didn’t like the stylo type applicator for a formula this thick and opaque. It was difficult to achieve a precise application and I think they would be better suited in a bullet lipstick applicator.
This formula isn’t awful, though. I enjoy the shades and I don’t mind how they feel on the lips but they’re no different than any other affordable lipstick. I didn’t find them to be worth the $13.00 I paid and I definitely wouldn’t pay $26.00. If there’s a color you just love, I recommend waiting for a sale.
Final Thoughts:
In my opinion, these are an easy skip. You could buy any more affordable cream or satin lipstick and get the same results. As always, though, let me know what you think about them. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
