Erborian BB Cream Review- A Disappointing Experience😕

13

A few weeks ago I reviewed the Erborian CC Red Correct and deemed it one of my favorite foundation products. That is still true. The Red Correct is just so effortless to use and looks beautiful on the skin. Since I loved it so much, I had very high hopes for the BB Cream. Also, the brand spells it crème on the bottle but cream on the website; I will be spelling it as cream. The BB Cream claims to have a soft matte finish with SPF 20 and medium to buildable coverage. It is $46.00 and you get 1.5 fluid ounces of product. It also has the same slight scent as the Red Correct but it’s a very pleasant, lotion type smell.

Unlike the CC Red Correct, the BB Cream is available in four different shades. I chose the lightest shade, Clair, because it claims to be best for light to fair skin tones. This shade is definitely too light and cool toned for me. For reference, my skin tone is light with olive undertones. The shade range in general is not great. Since this does have light to medium coverage, this line needs more of a foundation type shade range. I’m able to make this work for me but I have to use a decent amount of bronzer.

In the top two pictures, you can see my skin with nothing on it and in the bottom two you can see my skin with one layer of the BB Cream. The coverage is light but can be built up to medium. My skin type is normal but combination in the T zone with acne and acne scars. Unfortunately, while the finish is a lovely soft matte, it doesn’t look flawless. It clings to dry patches and it’s also not as easy to blend as the CC Red Correct. With the Red Correct, I can easily use my fingers to quickly blend it in but with the BB Cream, I had to use my fingers then go over it with a brush or sponge. That along with having to adjust the shade to match my skin tone added much more application time than I would typically want to put into a BB Cream.

In the picture on the left, I’m only wearing the BB Cream with some powder. The picture on the right is my makeup after about six hours of wear. Each time I wore this, I did enjoy the way my makeup turned out. However, I found that it creased quite quickly and was not transfer proof in the slightest. This surprised me because it does have a matte finish so I expected it to stay in place better than the CC Red Correct but it did not.

Final Thoughts:

I don’t think that this BB Cream is a bad product but I definitely prefer the CC Red Correct. You may enjoy this if you have decently clear skin that is normal to slightly combination. I will use this up because again, it’s not bad and I can make it work, but I wouldn’t purchase it again. Have you tried anything from Erborian? What should I try next? Thanks for reading and have a great day!

      1. I gotcha. You are prob in between shades.. There are times if I really like a product I have to buy 2 and mix them. I recently bought this for 50% off during the 21 days of beauty at Ulta. I’m extremely pale so it did match me when I swatched. I haven’t actually used it yet. Whew lol

  1. I have just started using this product a few days ago and I’m experiencing the same thing with it needing more shades and it sticking to dry spots! I am medium skin tone and between shades as well. I choose the caramel and it is way to warm and a touch too dark. I ended up purchasing the smaller travel size tube of Clair to mix it to get my color match which is a pain. I am using this as my makeup though since I prefer a “no makeup, makeup” look. I also have combination skin with acne and acne scars. This is my first time ever using anything like this though so glad to know that this isn’t normal. I will keep using it and see if it improves over time.

    1. I definitely recommend the CC Red Correct more but since you’re a medium skin tone, you’d definitely need a darker concealer and bronzer with it. I really hope they work on the shade ranges.

  2. Looking at your pictures, I think the nude shade would have worked for you as it has more neutral/yellow undertones.

I have just received a sample of this product so am yet to try it but I do have the Super BB which I use over the top of the CC Red Correct. I’d say my skin was possibly a bit lighter than yours with neutral/olive tones and the nude shade works well for me.

What I didn’t like about the Super BB is how shiny it looked, and there was a lot of transfer onto my clothes.
