Beauty Favorites of 2024 & Some (Dis) Honorable Mentions!

35

I tried quite a bit of makeup this year! Some of it was great and some of it was well, terrible. Typically I only share my beauty favorites at the end of the year but since I had quite a few fails, I decided to include them. I’m only going to talk about products I reviewed in 2024 and only if they’re still available. Unfortunately, a few things I loved have since been discontinued🙁 Let’s talk about my favorites first!

💄The Best of the Best:

I tried a few things from Fantasy Cosmetica for the first time this year and the Druid Eyeshadow Palette was by far the stand out. The shimmers in this palette were just magical! You can read my review here.

The essence Bloom Baby, Bloom Eye & Cheek Palette in Make it Bloom actually wasn’t a favorite when I first tried it but out of everything in my collection, I used this the most. It’s perfect for busy days and traveling. You can read my review here.

Also from essence, the Lash Without Limits Mascara in black was my most used mascara. It has such a great formula that doesn’t flake, adds volume and length. You can read my review here.

The J.Cat Beauty Dew Glow Lip Hydrators are my favorite kind of lip product. They’re hydrating, easy to apply, have a perfect amount of pigment and last a decent amount of time on the lips. Since my original review, I have bought almost all of the shades available. You can read my review here.

The erborian CC Red Correct was definitely a splurge but it’s been so worth it. I use this CONSTANTLY. It’s so easy to apply, looks beautiful on the skin, corrects redness and wears well throughout the day. You can see my review here.

I tried Sydney Grace for the first time this year and fell in love. Their Mountain Trail and Southern Spring Eyeshadow Palettes are just my kind of color stories and both have an excellent formula. The Mountain Trail has been discounted to just $10.00 for quite awhile so I’m sure it’s being discontinued. That price is a steal, though, and I highly recommend grabbing it. You can read my review for Mountain Trail here and for Southern Spring here.

I think my absolute favorite purchase of the entire year was the Jolie Beauty Til Death Eyeshadow Palette. This was my first time trying the brand and I have since bought three more of their palettes so there will definitely be more of them on the blog in 2025. This palette is just gorgeous. There’s a variety of formulas within it and the foiled shades look like liquid metal. You can read my review here.

I know it’s not a super popular opinion but I love a good Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette and the Nude Silk is one of the best. You can read my review here.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the Profusion Gothic Beauty Collection, specifically the Moonlight Magic Eyeshadow Palette and Spooky Glow Holo Highlighter. The quality was just unreal, especially for how affordable they are. You can read my reviews here.

I decided to try out a new (to me) indie brand, Pretties for Your Face, and I absolutely loved their single eyeshadows. The formula was incredible and they’re very affordable. You can read my review for this custom palette here.

Another hit from Makeup Revolution this year was the Reloaded Neutral Charm Eyeshadow Palette. This palette may not look like much but it’s stellar quality. You can read my review here.

💄The Worst of the Worst:

I ordered the Colourpop Twilight Eyeshadow Palette the second it released and was so unbelievably disappointed with it. The metallics were lackluster and I also wasn’t a fan of the mattes. You can read my review here.

I had such high hopes for the Fantasy Cosmetica Lost Library Lipstick in the shade Buried. I’m obsessed with the packaging but the formula is not great. It’s much too creamy and slips around everywhere; it even got on my teeth😬 You can read my review here.

The What’s Up Beauty Dragon Eye Eyeshadow Palette wasn’t a total flop but it wasn’t great. The shimmers are more like toppers and they crease terribly. I also wasn’t a fan of the mattes and not because of the formula but because of the colors chosen. You can read my review here.

My greatest makeup disappointment was the Blend Bunny All Done Up Eyeshadow Palette. I was SO excited to try this brand and ended up finding it mediocre, at best. You can read my review here.

The Klarity Kosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Vampire Blood took me straight back to wearing ultra matte liquid lipsticks in 2016. This lipstick, while a beautiful color, was dry and completely crumbled off my lips. You can read my review here.

The Tarte Maracuja Lip Cremes aren’t awful but they are over priced and hyped. The formula isn’t the worst but it feels like any basic satin lipstick. You can read my review here.

Final Thoughts:

I hope you enjoyed seeing my favorites and fails from the past year! As always, let me know if we share any opinions or if you feel differently! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
