Rock City and Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, Tennessee: Overnight Trip Part 1

I mentioned in my May Wrap Up that I would be taking an overnight trip. My husband, my parents, my brother and myself went to Chattanooga, Tennessee to see the beautiful Rock City and Ruby Falls. We also stayed in a gorgeous, and supposedly haunted, hotel called the Read House. I’ll talk more about it later.

Rock City is located on Lookout Mountain in Georgia (it’s just a short ride over the state line to Tennessee). From the highest point in the park, Lover’s Leap, you can apparently see seven different states, however, this has never been proven. The park consists of stone trails, beautiful gardens, a deer park and an area called Fairy Land. Fairy Land was designed in 1932 when Rock City first became a public attraction. I hope that you enjoy all the pictures I took and go see Rock City for yourself. It really is a gorgeous place.

Next up was Ruby Falls, a very short ride from Rock City. Ruby Falls is a series of caves that are millions of years old. In the 1920s the cave was explored in depth by a chemist and cave enthusiast named Leo Lambert. He discovered the huge underground waterfall and decided to name it after his wife, Ruby. Lambert also opened the cave as a tourist attraction. I didn’t take many photos but here are the few I did take.

I hope you enjoyed that glimpse into our trip! I’m going to split this into two parts so I can talk more in depth about the hotel we stayed at. If you’re in the area of Chattanooga, Tennessee you need to go to both of these places, you won’t regret it. Thank you for reading and have a great day!
