I’ve been trying out a few new skincare products over the past few months. I’m planning to give an updated skincare routine and skin update pretty soon but I thought I’d go ahead and review these products first. For reference, my skin type is combo/dry with occasional acne, scarring and large pores. I actually like everything I’m reviewing today so let’s get started!
Skinfood
As of right now, I’m really enjoying everything I’ve tried from the brand Skinfood. My two newest additions are the Peach Jelly Soothing Gel and the Egg White Perfect Pore Cleansing Foam. The Peach Jelly Soothing Gel is $8.00 for 10.14 ounces. I’ve also tried and reviewed the Aloe Vera Soothing Gel. I prefer the peach version slightly more. Both gels feel the exact same on my skin, slightly tacky but they do dry down. I really just prefer the peach gel because of the wonderful, light peachy scent. It claims to refresh stressed skin and while I don’t think it does anything miraculous, it does make my skin look and feel healthier. I recommend it.
The Egg White Perfect Pore Cleansing Foam is $13.00 for 6.6 ounces. I really like this face wash but I’m not sure it’s a staple for me. It does make my face feel very clean without making it feel dry but I don’t notice it doing anything for my pores, like it claims. It also has a perfume type scent that might bother some people. I do think this is an excellent buy for the amount of product you get because it takes a very small amount to cleanse the whole face. This is a good face wash but as of right now, it’s just an extra step in my routine that I’m not sure is really necessary. I recommend it for some but not for everyone.
Alpha Skincare
The Enhanced Renewal Cream from Alpha Skincare is the first product I’ve tried from the brand. It is $17.00 for 2 ounces. It contains 12% Glycolic AHA which is supposed to chemically scrub away dead skin cells and help prevent lines and wrinkles. I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this product. It burns my skin terribly. It was worse when I first started using it, the top of layer of skin around my nose even peeled off, but my skin has somewhat adjusted now. It also has a horrendous chemical scent. However, it’s not doing any lasting damage to my skin, I think it’s helping, and a Glycolic AHA is something I want in my skincare routine. This particular one is very affordable compared to other brands so I’m willing to keep using it. This is definitely a product that you need to buy ONLY if you think it’s a good fit for your skincare routine and if your skin can handle it.
Freeman Feeling Beautiful
I’ve added another Freeman Feeling Beautiful mask to my already too large pile. I couldn’t resist their new Soothing Watermelon+Aloe Cooling Gel Mask. It’s $4.29 for 6 ounces and suitable for sensitive skin. It has a delicious but light watermelon scent. It goes onto the skin clear and as it dries it feels tacky but not tight. It does what it claims to do, sooth and cool. It’s the perfect mask for the warmer months. It honestly seems like a much more affordable dupe for the $45.00 Watermelon Glow Mask from Glow Recipe. I highly recommend you give this affordable mask a try.
That’s all of my newest skincare additions! I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of these and what you think of my review. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
