I don’t buy from bareMinerals often because they’re expensive and honestly… kind of boring. I have tried and enjoyed some of their Matte Liquid Lipsticks in the past, though. I decided to pick up a few of their other formulas when they were on sale but unfortunately, I don’t love them all. Let’s start with the negative first.
The Hydra Smoothing Lipstick is $20.00 and claims to be both pigmented and moisturizing. It’s in the typical bullet lipstick shape and the packaging is very nice with a firm click closure. I have the shade Awareness, a rich rosewood color. This a good, basic lipstick. I find this particular color to be very pretty and it is a comfortable formula to wear. Like most cream lipsticks, the lasting power isn’t great. My only real complaint with this lipstick, however, is the price. You can find almost identical formulas from e.l.f., NYX, Milani, etc. There’s nothing bad about this lipstick but there’s also nothing special enough about it to warrant a $20.00 price tag. If you can find it on sale, I recommend it.
The Lip Gloss Balm is $20.00 and claims to provide sheer color with a glossy, not sticky, shine. It has a doe foot applicator and screw shut packaging. I have the shade Wonder, a burgundy color. I love the color and feel of this gloss. It’s very hydrating; as you would expect from the name. However, it is SO blotchy. The color, though sheer, is pigmented enough to look noticeably bad if the gloss is not applied evenly. This shouldn’t be a hard thing to do but for some reason, this formula doesn’t want to go on to the lips evenly. I have to spend a ridiculous amount of time on application and that should never be a thing with lip gloss. I don’t recommend this and especially not for $20.00.
The Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick is $20.00 and claims to be long lasting with a lightweight texture. It has a doe foot applicator and screw shut packaging. It is also scented and smells like chocolate. I have the shade Juicy, a poppy red color. I absolutely love this lipstick and plan for it to be my go to summer shade! It applies opaquely in one swipe and is long lasting but so comfortable. It will slightly transfer and wear off, especially when eating. I would consider it to be more of a long lasting cream lipstick but this formula is very easy to reapply. If I really needed my lipstick to last for hours, I wouldn’t choose this one but for any other kind of wear, it’s great.
I really don’t think you should pay full price for any of these lip products but out of them all, the Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick is the absolute best. If you’ve tried any of these formulas, let me know how you feel about them. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
