The Prettiest Pink Paletteđź’— Review for the Sugar Drizzle Plumeria Dragon Eyeshadow Palette

3

I’ve never really liked pink on myself but decided to take a chance on the Sugar Drizzle Plumeria Dragon Eyeshadow Palette; a palette filled with primarily pink and berry tones. This was my first time trying Sugar Drizzle, an indie brand, and I was overall very happy with my experience.

The Plumeria Dragon Eyeshadow Palette is $40.00 and contains twelve shades: five mattes, five shimmers and two duochromes. It has cardboard packaging with a firm magnetic closure and a mirror. The artwork on the outside is super cute and that’s just an added bonus. Let’s talk pros and cons!

❤Pros:

  • As someone that doesn’t own many pink or berry eyeshadows, this palette is completely unique to my collection.
  • The mattes are a DREAM to work with. They are effortless to blend and build up.
  • All of the shimmers are beautiful but Fire Kiss, Dragon Egg and Dragon’s Den are my favorites.

đź’”Cons:

  • The shade Dragon Scales, while beautiful, is crumbly and messy. It’s best used with a wet, flat brush.
  • The shade Dragon’s Breath is supposedly a duochrome but I don’t see any kind of shift.
  • The shade Dragon Egg is a gorgeous duochrome but it’s very patchy. It works best as a topper.
  • I personally think this palette would have benefited from one deeper matte and one light shimmer.
  • The shades Dragon’s Den, Dragon Fruit and Relight My Fire have more of a smooth metallic, almost satin, type finish. These shades aren’t bad, I just would have preferred more shimmer and shine.
  • I did experience staining with the hot pink shades but no irritation. This isn’t really a con for me but I thought I should mention it.

Swatches & Shade Descriptions:

These eyeshadows do have names but no shade descriptions on the website so I will describe them to the best of my ability. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

Eyeshadow Looks:

I created three looks using this palette and I really like them all. I don’t always wear an eye primer but I do set my base with a cream colored shadow.

  1. I blended Miss Dragon into my inner crease.
  2. I blended Slay throughout the rest of my crease and smudged it on my lower lash line.
  3. I deepened my crease with On My Wings and smudged it on my lower lash line.
  4. I applied Dragon Scales on my outer lid and applied it on my water line.
  5. I applied Dragon’s Breath on my inner lid.
  6. I applied Dragon Egg in my inner corner.
  7. I smudged Relight My Fire on my lower lash line.
  1. I blended Puff of Smoke into my crease.
  2. I deepened my crease with On My Wings.
  3. I applied Dragons Den on my lid.
  4. I applied Fire Kiss in my inner corner.
  5. I applied Plumeria Dragon and Dragon Fruit on my lower lash line.

Brushes Used:

If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.

Final Thoughts:

When I bought this palette, I also bought their Hypernova Eyeshadow Palette. I typically don’t buy multiple palettes from a brand I’ve never tried but they were having a good sale. I’m excited to use Hypernova soon but I am glad that I bought both while they were discounted. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy using the Plumeria Dragon but I wouldn’t say the formula was $40.00 worth of special. For example, Fantasy Cosmetica is around the same price and they have a  truly spectacular formula. Anyways though, I’ll probably try the Hypernova Palette closer to summer. I’d love to know if you’ve tried this brand and what you think. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
