Sydney Grace is an indie brand that I’ve wanted to try for a very long time. Their Mountain Trail Eyeshadow Palette caught my eye when it first released so when I saw that it was on sale for $18.00, I had to get it. This palette is usually $36.00 but the price has been changed on the website which leads me to believe that it might be discontinued soon. If so, I highly recommend getting it before then because it’s a BEAUTY!

This palette contains nine shades: four mattes and five metallics. It has cardboard packaging with a firm magnetic closure and a mirror. I really love the art on the front of the packaging. The eyeshadow pans are magnetic so you could easily depot them and put them into another palette. With the basic info out of the way, let’s talk pros and cons!
Pros:
- Earthy greens and browns are my absolute favorite colors to wear so this color story is perfection.
- The mattes have a gorgeous formula. They are so easy to blend and build up.
- All of the metallics are beautiful. Some are more shimmery/reflective (Be the Sunshine and Light my World), while the others lean more toward a satin finish. I personally love a subtle metallic but if you’re wanting something very shimmery and impactful, this won’t be the palette for you.
💔Cons:
- Light my World created a ton of fallout. It’s a gorgeous shade so I don’t mind dealing with it but it’s annoying.
- This isn’t a big deal but for my skin tone, there isn’t a great inner corner shade. For my personal tastes, I would have rather had an inner corner shade instead of the yellow gold, Be the Sunshine.
Swatches & Shade Descriptions:
These eyeshadows do have names but no shade descriptions so I will describe them to the best of my ability. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

- Dirt Road– matte mustard yellow
- Backwoods– matte khaki brown
- Be the Sunshine– metallic yellow gold with a green undertone
- Light my World– metallic bronze with gold reflects
- Escape– metallic blue green with gold reflects
- Rustic– metallic brown
- Wildlife– matte deep khaki green
- To Earth– metallic deep green
- Trailhead– matte black

Eyeshadow Looks:
I created two looks using this palette and I love them both. I don’t always wear an eye primer but I do set my base with a cream colored shadow.
- I applied Light my World on my lid and blended it up into my crease.
- I applied Trailhead on my water line.
- I smudged To Earth on my lower lash line.
- I blended Dirt Road into my inner crease.
- I blended Backwoods into my crease.
- I deepened my crease with Wildlife.
- I applied Rustic on the outermost part of my lid and blended it into the deepest part of my crease.
- I applied Escape on my lid.
- I tapped Light my World on top of Escape.
- I applied Be the Sunshine in my inner corner.
- I smudged To Earth on my lower lash line.
Brushes Used:
- Crease Brush
- Detail Crease Brush
- Flat Eyeshadow Brush
- Angled Liner/Brow Brush
- Smudge Brush
- Eye Crease Brush– I use this for inner corner & brow highlights.
- Blending Brush– I use this brush to blend out the edges and set my primer.
If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.
Final Thoughts:
I highly recommend this palette and Sydney Grace is a brand that I will be buying more from in the future. I’d love to know what you think about it and the looks I created! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
Oh wow! This palette is beautiful from the outside image to the shades! I might have to think about adding it to my collection. Shame about the fallout on Light my World – maybe applying with a finger might pack the colour on?
Thank you for such an in-depth review!

Thank you! I did apply it with my finger and unfortunately still got the fallout but it’s still so pretty.

Oh no! That is a real shame – I was hoping the pat pat pat method could have saved such a stunning shade!!
