Looxi Beauty was my go to for affordable single shadows but since they’re no longer an option (read about that here), I’ve been searching for another brand to buy from. I believe I have found that in Pretties For Your Face. This is another indie brand and while they’re not quite as affordable as Looxi was, they do half off sales all the time and that puts them right around the same price. I decided to create a twelve pan, Halloween palette so I could really get a feel for the brand and I’m happy to say I’m quite impressed.
I’m going to show swatches first so I can give you the names, shade descriptions and prices of each shadow. After that, we’ll get into pros, cons and looks!
Swatches & Shade Descriptions:
These eyeshadows do have names and shade descriptions on the website so I will just copy them here. I do slightly disagree with some of the shade descriptions so I will add my thoughts. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

- Ghostly Glow– metallic pale lavender ($5.00) *Looks more white than lavender.
- Cobweb– sparkling champagne with green shimmer ($5.00)
- Pussycat– pale gray with a sparkly gold shift ($5.00)
- Titan– golden champagne with gold sparkles ($5.00)
- Oubliette– semi matte taupe ($5.00)
- Cauldron– sparkly green purple/pink shifter ($10.00) *I see no green in this. It shifts pink to blue.
- Pumpkin Pixie– green, orange & gold shifter packed with sparkle ($18.00)
- Mary– metallic burnt orange ($5.00)
- Sarah– metallic berry purple ($5.00)
- Winifred– metallic emerald green ($5.00)
- Booooook!– matte medium brown ($5.00)
- Black Flame Candle– matte black with gold glitter ($5.00)
Pros:
- All of these shadows were so easy to blend and build up. I wish the brand offered more mattes and semi mattes because they are so good.
- I had almost no fallout from all but one of the shades.
- Pumpkin Pixie and Cauldron are SO sparkly and beautiful on the eyes. I layered them with some of the other shades and they looked gorgeous.
- Cobweb, Pussycat and Titan were also very sparkly and beautiful. These are some of the more affordable shades from the brand and they’re well worth purchasing.
- Ghostly Glow is technically a highlighter but you can buy it in a standard (26mm) eyeshadow pan and I love having that option. I did use it on my face as well and it’s a great highlighter.
- Mary, Sarah and Winifred are technically metallics but they lean more toward a satin finish. This isn’t a con for me because I enjoyed using them to layer with the more sparkly shades and on my lower lash line.
Cons:
- The fallout from Cauldron was absolutely insane. It’s a very loosely pressed shadow and the shimmer goes everywhere. The shimmer also stuck where it landed so my face was covered in it for the rest of the day🥴 It’s beautiful but it’s a hassle to work with.
- This is a one person operated brand (as far as I know) so I don’t want to be overly critical but I didn’t love that the pans weren’t all filled the same. Some shadows had more in the pan, almost too much for Cauldron, while others (Pumpkin Pixie, Mary and Sarah) seemed to have less product in the pan. The eyeshadows also look hand pressed. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but there were slight cracks in some and just not a smooth, even appearance throughout all the shades.
- The shipping time was quite long but the brand does make this clear on the website. I waited around five weeks for my order. This isn’t really a con just more of something to be aware of.
- Before I get into this next one, I want to make it clear that this isn’t a complaint with the eyeshadows themselves but with the website. The layout of the website is not the best and neither are the swatch pictures. This isn’t a big deal for me but it was slightly difficult to see what some shades would actually look like.
Eyeshadow Looks:
I created two looks using this palette and I just love how they both turned out! I don’t typically wear an eye primer but I do set my base.
- I blended Booooook! into my crease.
- I applied Mary all over the lid and blended it up into my crease.
- I applied Pumpkin Pixie on top of Mary.
- I applied Titan in my inner corner.
- I applied Black Flame Candle on my water line.
- I smudged Winifred on my lower lash line.
- I smudged Cobweb under Winifred and applied it on my brow bone.
- I blended Oubliette into my crease.
- I applied Sarah all over my lid and blended it up into the crease. I also smudged it on my lower lash line.
- I applied Cauldron on top of Sarah.
- I applied Ghostly Glow in my inner corner and on my brow bone.
- I also applied Pussycat in my inner corner.
- I applied Black Flame Candle on my water line.
*I’m wearing Ghostly Glow as my face highlighter.
If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.
Final Thoughts:
I am SO impressed with Pretties For Your Face! I had fun curating a palette that wasn’t just great for Halloween but that was also special to me. The Hocus Pocus movie is one of my favorites (I have a cat named Binx) and my dog’s name is Titan. At the time this blog post is going live (10/25/24), the brand is having another half off sale. I won’t say these shadows aren’t worth full price but I really recommend getting them for that lower price. If you’ve tried anything from them before, let me know what you recommend! Also let me know what you think of the palette I created! Thanks for reading!
I’m so glad I found your blog! I miss Looxi Beauty so I’m very appreciative of this review of PFYF. I’ll definitely be checking out their shimmers!
