I discovered a small indie brand on Instagram about a year ago called Tater Rounds Beauty; they have since changed their name to Haunting Hues Cosmetics. I ordered a few things then but honestly, I wasn’t super impressed. I forgot about the brand until recently when I saw they had released a few really interesting products. I placed an order and today I want to review what I bought and talk about the brand general.

My two favorite products that I bought are the lipsticks. I got Relics, a taupe brown, and Lunacy, a pale gray. These lipsticks are $9.00 apiece and traditional bullet lipsticks. I really like both but Relics is my favorite. I love taupe shades and this one is excellent. These lipsticks have a semi stiff formula and you do have to build them up on the lips to get full opacity. They have a finish that’s somewhere between a cream and a satin but they are comfortable and have a decent amount of staying power. I really like that this brand offers some unique shades and I could see myself buying more in the future.

I also bought a lip gloss in the shade Thunderstorms. This gloss is $9.00 and described as a pale taupe brown with golden green shimmer. I think it pairs beautifully with Relics and that’s how I’m wearing it in the picture above. This is a very comfortable gloss and I couldn’t feel the shimmer within it. I have two slight complaints with it, though.
My main issue is with the doe foot applicator/tube. When you pull the applicator out, the tube scrapes off a good amount of the product so I had to keep dipping back in to get the amount of gloss that I wanted. I prefer for there to be enough product on the applicator for me to apply it once and be done. I also would have liked for this to be more pigmented. It is definitely a semi sheer gloss and that’s just not what I enjoy. I still would buy more glosses from the brand, however, because like with the lipsticks, they offer unique shades.

The last product I purchased was Narcissus, an iridescent loose shimmer powder that can be used on the eyes or as a highlighter. It has a white base with bright green shimmer throughout. It is $7.50 for 5 grams of product and is packaged in a small container with a sifter. When I purchased this, it was $10.00. It seems like the brand has just decided to lower the price, which is great, but I would have much preferred paying the cheaper price. It’s not that I don’t like this, I do, but it is a small amount of product.
It’s also not quite as impactful as I wanted it to be. It is a beautiful green shimmer but the white base does leave a cast on the skin that takes away from that bright green shine. I’ve been primarily wearing it as a highlighter and it’s gorgeous but I do have to really buff it in because there is such a white cast. For me personally, I would have enjoyed a pressed version with a sheer base more.
Final Thoughts:
I overall really like everything I bought from Haunting Hues Cosmetics and I see myself buying more in the future. If you’ve tried anything from them, let me know what you like the most! Thanks for reading!
the lipsticks is what caught my eye . I had a look on their website after seeing your blog post , I’ll definitely be trying some in the future . They had a really nice grey shade called Glossy Hippo that looked really nice too !
