During a recent Ulta sale, I decided to make a slight impulse purchase and grab one of the new Burt’s Bees Color Nurture Cream Eyeshadows. They are usually $10.00 apiece and I chose the shade Rose Cream. These eyeshadows are packaged in a small tub with a screw on lid and you get 0.25 ounces of product. The formula is very creamy and contains light reflecting pearl pigments, not glitter. It also contains nourishing ingredients like vitamin e and berry fruit wax. Like all Burt’s Bees products, this formula is free of parabens, phthalates, sls, and petrolatum.
I like this eyeshadow but I’m not in love with it. The Rose Cream shade is beautiful, applies easily and sets quickly BUT it creases like crazy and is barely noticeable on the lids. I’m sure this could be fixed by using primer and maybe setting the cream with powder. However, I typically use cream eyeshadow when I’m doing very minimal makeup; I don’t want to have to use primer and do all those extra steps.
Burt’s Bees also claims this product can be used as a cream highlighter. I personally didn’t use it like that because I don’t think this color would have looked great on my skin tone but I could see it being a better highlighter than eyeshadow. It’s creamy, blendable and sets in place very well so it would probably work better on the face where it’s less likely to crease. I could see myself picking up the lighter shade, Caramel Buttercream, to use in that way.
Overall, I feel kind of meh about this product. It’s not a must have but it’s not bad either. I think it just depends on your makeup style and what you want. I do plan to play with it more and I could see it being a great base for similarly colored powder eyeshadows and highlighters.
Final Thoughts:
I have yet to find a cream eyeshadow that I absolutely love but this one is one of the best. What cream formulas do you recommend? Thanks for reading and have a great day!
It does look really pretty ! I could totally see it as a highlighter for some , it’s very shimmery and may stay on better when used with a sticky primer .
