Colourpop Frosty the Snowman Palette & Lux Lip Kit Reviews☃❄

I had every intention of reviewing what I bought from the Colourpop Frosty the Snowman collection in December but the month got away from me. This icy color story is perfect for January, though, so we’re starting off the month with it! The past two collections I bought from Colourpop (Snow White and Twilight) were complete flops, in my personal opinion. I didn’t have high hopes for this one but I loved the color story and I’m a sucker for things that make me nostalgic🙃 While I enjoyed this one much more than those other collections, I still had some issues. Let’s talk about the lip kit first!

The Snow Much Fun! Lux Lip Kit is $16.00 and contains a Lux Lipstick and a Lippie Pencil in berry red shades. The lipstick is called Silly Snowman and the liner is called Magic Hat. In typical Colourpop style, the packaging is super cute and goes with the theme perfectly. The Lux Lipstick formula is one of my absolute favorites. It’s comfortable but long wearing and I would describe the finish as a satin. I don’t typically use lip liners but this is a good one. It was easy to apply, didn’t bleed out of my lip lines and had the same lasting power as the lipstick. My only issue with this lip kit is the color chosen.

The berry red color on its own is beautiful but it does not go with the eyeshadow palette. It’s a warm berry red and the palette is completely cool toned. A mauve, taupe or cool toned pink would have been a much better option. Other than that, I really like this lip kit.

The Frosty the Snowman Eyeshadow Palette is $24.00 and contains fifteen shades. There are a variety of formulas within the palette but unfortunately, Colourpop has no shade descriptions on the website so I will just guess what I think they are. There are five mattes, two mattes with glitter, four metallics and four pearlescent glitters. The pearlescent glitter shades do not feel like pressed glitters but instead have a creamy, almost putty like, formula. This palette has cardboard packaging, no mirror and a magnetic closure. Let’s now get into the pros and cons!

❤Pros:

  • I love the theme and color story of this palette. It’s so icy and perfect for winter.
  • I had no issues with any of the mattes. The more pastel shades had plenty of pigment and all were easy to blend and work with.
  • All of the metallic shades (Jolly Soul, December Wind, Busy Busy Busy & To the North Pole) were beautiful, had very little fallout and were easy to work with. December Wind is an especially gorgeous icy silver.
  • The pearlescent glitters Happy Birthday! and Something Wonderful are such beautiful, special shades. They are perfect as toppers or inner corner highlights.

💔Cons:

  • The shade Ice & Snow, a pearlescent glitter, is truly the most beautiful shade in the entire palette. It has a pastel turquoise base and is packed with gold, red and pink shimmer. However, the formula is terrible. It is thick, chunky and too creamy. I usually don’t have an issue with eyeshadow creasing on me but this one creased immediately. I will add a picture below of the creasing.
  • The shade 1969, a pearlescent glitter, is the most like a pressed glitter. It has the same thick and chunky feel as Ice & Snow but it has much less of a base color. It looks like a pressed glitter and while very pretty, isn’t the easiest to work with.

Swatches & Shade Descriptions:

These eyeshadows do have names but no shade descriptions on the website so I will describe them to the best of my ability. I’ll be going from left to right, top row to bottom row. These photos were taken with flash to show off the sparkle.

Eyeshadow Looks:

I created three looks using this palette and I like them all except for the creasing issues with the last one. I don’t typically wear an eye primer but I do set my base.

  1. I set my base with Christmas Snow.
  2. I blended Thermometer into my crease.
  3. I deepened my crease with Always Very Merry.
  4. I applied Busy, Busy, Busy all over my lid.
  5. I applied Happy Birthday! all over my lid.
  6. I applied Jolly Soul in my inner corner and on my brow bone.
  7. I applied Button Nose on my waterline.
  8. I smudged To The North Pole on my lower lash line.

  5. I applied Something Wonderful in my inner corner.
  6. I smudged 1969 on my lower lash line.

✨If you are curious about any of the other products on my face, you can find these looks in my recent posts on Instagram.

Final Thoughts:

So, do I recommend what I bought from the Frosty the Snowman collection? Yes and no. If you like the color, I fully recommend the lip kit. If you like color story of the palette and are willing to work with the more crumbly, putty like shades, I also recommend it. I am much more happy with this palette than I have been with others from the brand and I don’t regret buying it. Let me know if you grabbed anything from this collection! Thanks for reading!

  1. I would of course be drawn to ice and snow the most , but I might try the Narimi palette , Anomolous sheep as it has a similar shade and I’ve talked with people who have used it . Still nice wintery palette and collection from Colourpop ! Great review too !
