I’ve reviewed the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks before (here and here) and it’s no secret that I love them. They are my favorite matte lipstick formula but pricey at $18.00 apiece so I usually wait for some type of sale. A few weeks ago Dose of Colors had a buy one shade, get the shade Play it Cool for free deal so I decided to buy the shade Talk is Chic. Included in the deal, for free, was one of their Eyedeal Duos in the shade Shell. The Eyedeal Duos are $25.00 apiece so I was able to get $61.00 worth of products for just $18.00, not a bad deal. Since I’ve reviewed the lipstick formula before, I’ll just briefly touch on what I like about them and show you swatches. I have a TON to say about the Eyedeal Duo, however. Let’s get started!
My favorite of the two lipsticks is Play it Cool, picture on the top left and the left swatch. It’s described on their website as being a dusty rose taupe and that’s accurate. I feel like this is a flattering shade on me and I’m really glad I have it.
Talk is Chic, pictured on the bottom left and right swatch, is described as being a cool toned berry red. I think that is accurate but I was hoping it would be a bit more cool toned than it is. I feel it pulls very pink on me and I wanted it to be a deeper and cooler toned berry shade. Overall, it’s a pretty lipstick, just not what I was hoping for.
Both lipsticks have the formula that I love; comfortable and long lasting.
*Picture on the left/swatches from left to right: glitter on top of the cream base (you can see how patchy it is), just glitter and just the cream base.
The Eyedeal Duo in Shell is honestly the worst makeup product I’ve tried in a long time. It’s insulting that they’re charging $25.00 for this. The Eyedeal Duos come with a cream base and a glitter topper. Shell contains a rose gold cream base and rose gold topper with silver glitter. I have no complaints with the glitter. It’s beautiful and the only reason I’m keeping this thing around. The issues lie with the cream base. It’s greasy and patchy. If you try to cover the patches with more product, it gets cakey. The glitter does adhere well to it but you have to use a TON of glitter to cover the base. Then it still looks cakey and it creases terribly because the base never dries down. From a distance, as you can see in the picture on the above right, the eyeshadow looks fine but up close…
You have this disgusting mess. Seriously, do not waste your money on this. I got it for free and I’m still annoyed by how bad it is.
That’s all the new stuff I have from Dose of Colors for now. I’d love to know if you’ve tried these products and feel the same or differently than I do! Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!
