It is the last day of 2018 and I can honestly say I’m ready to see this year go. It has not been the best year for me health wise. I had my first surgery ever during the summer when I had to have a fibroid removed. There were other things that happened this year that made it less than perfect BUT I’m ending the year with all of my loved ones still with me and an abundance of blessings so I’m choosing to focus on those things. I am cautiously optimistic that 2019 will be better, lol. I’m going to let you know what I have planned for reviews over the next few months, rules for my makeup low buy and what my New Year’s resolutions are.
Books
All of the above books are what you can expect to see reviewed over the next few weeks. I’m starting the year off with a bang with some really (hopefully) amazing books! The review for Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas will be up this Wednesday.
Makeup, Skincare & a Low Buy
As you can see, I have a lot of makeup and skincare to review. Pictured above is a collective haul from the past few months and Christmas. Everything I plan to review isn’t pictured but that is most of it. Of course, there’s too much to really list out but if you see anything you’re curious about or if you have a question just let me know in the comments! I went to see a dermatologist in December and I’ve completely updated and overhauled my skincare routine. My new routine with reviews for the products I’m using will be up in two to three weeks. Everything else will be reviewed over the next few months which brings me to my low buy announcement;
I will not be buying certain types of makeup or skincare from the beginning of January until the end of March, possibly longer. I’ve mentioned wanting to do a no buy and I feel like now is a good time. I’ve been working on new post ideas that don’t revolve around buying new stuff and I’m very excited. Here are the rules for my low, but mostly no, buy:
- I can not buy any eyeshadow products (palettes, singles, liquid, etc.).
- I can not buy any blushes.
- I can not buy any highlighters.
- I can not buy any lip products unless I use one up OR it is a color that I have nothing similar to. I do a lot of different makeup looks and I enjoy pairing matching lips with those looks. I really don’t have any shade duplicates in my collection, except maybe mauves, but I still wanted to include lip products in this.
- I can only buy a new foundation when I use one of my current ones up.
- I can only buy a new primer when I use one of my current ones up. This really only applies to my Hard Candy Pore Defense Primer that I use daily. I have so many others that I know I won’t use up within three months.
- I can replace my skincare when I use something up or if there is a legitimate need for a new product.
- I can only buy a new concealer or color corrector when I use one of my current ones up.
Brow products, powder, eyeliner, setting spray, mascara and application tools aren’t really “fun” for me so I don’t struggle with buying too many of them and therefore I didn’t include them in the rules. At the end of every month I will be doing a post about what makeup I used the most that month and if I purchased anything I will include it in that post. I’m doing this low buy simply because I’m running out of space and what I have isn’t getting used enough. Makeup expires and it’s wasteful to keep buying more. I have plenty to review over the next few months without having to even worry about buying new products and I’m going to be adding in a new type of review which brings me to my next topic…
Video Games
I have always loved video games. I started playing them as a child on the Sega Genesis and then moved on to the Playstation, PC and most recently, the Xbox One. I have a very large collection of PC games that I LOVE. I also got the new Spyro Reignited Trilogy for Christmas for the Xbox One. I’m planning to review a different game on the last Friday of every month and create a makeup look inspired by that game. This is a way for me to combine two things that I love and be creative. My first review will be for a game called Dark Parables Curse of Briar Rose. It is a reimagined and more grown up take on the story of Sleeping Beauty. It is the first game of a massive series, fifteen games and counting. They all link together and are basically adult fairy tales. I love them so much and I’m really looking forward to sharing them with all of you. Let me know if this sounds interesting to you!
New Year’s Resolutions
My resolutions this year are pretty short and sweet. Resolution number one, I want to improve my health. I started 2018 pretty strong with diet and exercise but my surgery derailed everything. My diet hasn’t changed much (definitely could be better) but I basically quit working out and I want to start that back. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome so for me to really feel my best I HAVE to eat low carb and exercise. I’m hoping to do more health and fitness posts this year to help keep myself motivated and maybe help some of you. Resolution number two, I just want to work harder on this blog and in every area of my life. That’s all of my resolutions! Hopefully by keeping my list short I’ll be able to achieve my goals.
Thank you!
You see that massive jump in my stats from 2017 to 2018? All of you made that happen and I am so grateful. Whether you follow me on here, Instagram, Twitter or just check in occasionally, I appreciate it so much. Hopefully 2019 will bring even more growth and good things. Whether 2018 was good to you or not I hope that 2019 will be even better. Thank you for reading and happy New Year!
