Haul with Reviews: NYX, essence, Catrice, Wet n Wild, Makeup Revolution & Jack Black

It’s been super cloudy here so I had to brighten these pictures more than I like to. If they look washed out, that’s why. I didn’t want to manipulate the color too much because it would affect how the makeup looks 🙂

Before I went on my low/no buy, I had gotten some random bits and pieces of makeup either from Christmas or me shopping. I decided to group these products together because they’re just random. There’s really not much else to say about them so let’s get into the reviews!

NYX

NYX was kind enough to send me two of their newest lippie releases. They sent me the Candy Slick Glowy Lip Color in the shade S’more Please (far right picture) and the Glitter Goals Liquid Lipstick in the shade Cherry Quartz (middle picture). The Candy Slick Glowy Lip Color is a high shine gloss with a ton of pigment. Its very comfortable on the lips and has almost a cooling sensation. I wouldn’t say it stains the lips but it does last a very long time to be a gloss. The shade I have is a perfect mauve color. The gloss is $6.49 and I would recommend it.

The Glitter Goals Liquid Lipstick is a matte finish FILLED with glitter. When you first apply it it just looks metallic but when you rub your lips together all the glitter appears, which is honestly super cool. This lipstick is also transfer proof. However, those are the only things I liked about it. It dries down to a very uncomfortable, powdery matte finish. If you apply too much it feels very heavy and gritty. It’s also impossible to touch this lipstick up because it just gets cakey and gross. This lipstick may look cool but it’s $8.99 and it’s just not worth that to me.

essence

I’ve used the Milani Eyeshadow Primer for years and while I do really like it, I hate that I have to apply it with my finger. I decided to try essence’s Colour Intensifying Eyeshadow Base because not only does it have a doe foot applicator but it’s also a brightening pink shade. It’s only $3.49 verses Milani’s primer that is $6.99. I am so glad I decided to try something new because I love this primer! It works perfectly and the brightening pink color really helps to make my eyeshadows pop. I definitely recommend this.

I also wanted to try a new brow gel. I typically use a $2.00 one from e.l.f. and while I really like that one, you just don’t get a lot of product. I bought essence’s Lash & Brow Gel Mascara for $2.99 and this is another winner. I couldn’t find how much product is in the e.l.f. brow gel but there is 0.3 ounces in the essence one and it’s noticeably more product. I recommend this as well.

Makeup Revolution

This gloss from Makeup Revolution was an impulse purchase I made to get free shipping but I’m so glad I did. This is the Jewel Collection Lip Topper in the shade Fortune. It’s described as being an iced silver shimmer and that’s accurate. It doesn’t have a clear base, but a milky one with silver shimmer throughout it. It’s a very beautiful and non sticky gloss but I do prefer it over something because I don’t think the milky tone is flattering on me. This gloss is $6.00 and I recommend it.

Catrice

I’ve been wanting to try Catrice’s Wake Up Effect Transformer Drops for awhile. I love their waterproof drops and I was hoping these would be as good. They are… but not used as intended. I did not like these drops mixed into my foundation. I felt like it made my foundation darker but I did like this applied under my eyes as a color corrector. I recommend this to just be used as a color corrector and not necessarily mixed in with foundation. This is $3.99 and I do recommend it.

Wet n Wild

I bought one of Wet n Wild’s Coloricon blushes in the shade Apri-Cot in the Middle. This blush is $3.00. This shade is a peachy tone with gold shimmer. It’s really beautiful and the shimmer doesn’t look glittery but rather just adds a healthy glow to the face. My only complaint with this blush is that it’s not quite pigmented enough for me and I’m very fair. I have to build and build and build this blush to get decent color payoff. However, this means that it’s impossible for me to accidentally put too much on and it looks very natural. I recommend this blush if you think it will work for your skintone.

Jack Black

I had heard a lot about the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm so I wanted to try it. This lip balm is $8.00, which is pretty pricey when I typically pay around $3.00 for three tubes of Carmex. I bought mine in the flavor of Black Tea & Blackberry. This lip balm also contains SPF 25. This lip balm is just okay. The flavor I bought smells really nice but it tastes terrible. It’s honestly like I just squirted perfume in my mouth. That might just be an issue with this flavor/scent, however. I also don’t feel like this moisturized my lips any better than my regular Carmex and I had to apply it just as much. Overall, I don’t recommend this because of the price. Carmex is cruelty free, much cheaper and works the same.

That’s everything for this mini haul! Let me know if you’ve tried any of this stuff and what you think! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
